Jeremy Lin's Secret

Jeremy_lin

Jeremy Lin has a secret…

“When I wasn’t playing much, we were working out before practice, and after practice he (NY Knick Assistant Coach Atkinson) was picking apart my game, teaching me what it’s like to play in Coach D’Antoni’s system.” ~ Jeremy Lin

You might be saying, "But I practice."

But do you practice deliberately?

Did you know…

Jerry Rice was not good enough to warrant scholarship offers from the 40 or so Division I-A schools that showed interest. He started doing "this" and became one of the greatest wide receivers of all time.

Michael Jordan tried out for the High School varsity basketball team during his sophomore year, but at 5’11″, he was deemed too short to play at that level. Then he started doing "this".

Mozart was a mediocre musician. Then, with the help of his father, he started doing "this".

Allen Iverson (although he didn’t realize it) used to do "this" and then he decided to stop.

Tiger Woods needs to get back to doing "this" like he used to.

Jeremy Lin needs to keep doing "this".

What is "this"?

It’s called “deliberate practice”.

Deliberate practice must be repeated a lot.

Deliberate practice requires constant feedback.

Deliberate practice is mentally exhausting.

Deliberate practice isn’t much fun.

That last part bears repeating; it isn’t much fun.

But the fact that it isn’t much fun is a good thing…

These are the things I use to do the things I do...

New_artwork_small

Someone asked me the other day what resources do I use to do the things that I do. First and formost, I use the Empower Network system as my primary blogging platform. It costs $25 per month to use the Empower Network system but it is well worth it.

Visit My Empower Network Blog to see what I mean.

Second, I use Posterous.com as a means to auto-post my content to various social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook, Blogger, Stumble Upon, and a few others. Posterous is FREE and you can post via the web or by email from your laptop, tablet, or smart phone.

Third, when I'm not drawing pictures or taking photos for my blog posts, I use Allposters.com for many of the images on my blog. Allposters.com is also FREE.

I also use Microsoft Office Power Point, Microsoft Office Picture Manager, Microsoft Office Word, and Notepad to create my blog posts offline before I actually add them to my Empower Network blog.

The other things I use are Photoshop, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and my Wacom Bamboo Drawing Tablet. These products can be purchased at My Amazon stuff.

I also use Market Samurai to do my keyword research, to analyze the competition, and to track the ranking of my blog on Google, Yahoo and on Bing. I got a free trial version of Market Samurai when I signed up to take Ed Dale's Challenge in 2010. I liked it so much that I decided to upgrade to the paid version at the end of the Challenge.

It might sound like a lot of stuff but it really isn't. A simple blog post like this one took just a few minutes and only required Notepad to write.

What Your Upline Forgot to Tell You...

Johnnie_oh_work_at_home

This message is brought to you by Roland Bonay in partnership with Jason Isaacson.

Can you believe what your upline keeps telling you about how you should go make a list of all your "Friends & Family" or "Warm Market?" That's the kind of advice that worked back in the 70's & 80's with Amway, but come on...seriously...That technique is so old and outdated, scientists have found that method scribed in prehistoric caves (I'm joking of course.)

But I'm not joking about how pathetic that "Old Way" of network marketing really is.

Excuse me...But making a list of everyone you know (your warm market) and bugging them to join your MLM is purely insane!

If you're still using this outdated technique, then you know how frustrating and painful it is.

Plus, considering there's a new system where people come to you (Pre-Sold and Ready to Join Your Opportunity), why would you want to be left behind?

You're just moments away from finding out why those "Old-Fashioned," "Old-School" network marketing techniques will always leave you frustrated and feeling like a failure.

Imagine this...You wake up in the morning to see dozens of emails from people asking to know more about your MLM, and more importantly, the system you're using to attract prospects. They already know it works because it just brought them to you (and you'll know it works in a moment because you're about to see it.)

So all these people in your email box and on your voicemail already know you're the "Real Deal," and they already know your system works. You don't have to prove it to them. They simply want to sign up with your network marketing company for one reason...They want to be able to use the same "Lead Generation System" they just witnessed you using (you're about to witness it for yourself in a moment.)

That's why you'll literally have a Never-Ending flow of prospects asking you questions about what you do and how you do it.

Doesn't that sound much better than all this nonsense of warm lists, cold-calling and disappointing "REJECTION?"

Do you have a love/hate relationship with Network Marketing?

My name is Roland. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with Network Marketing. It began when I was serving in the Navy. I knew a guy who was getting out to embark on a Network Marketing career with Amway. I'd never heard of Amway before but it sure as heck sounded like some sort of crazy cult that this guy had gotten himself involved in. A few years later I found myself at the end of my own enlistment and upon my departure I was introduced to a Network Marketing company called Nu Skin. Margaree, my wife of 30 years, fell in love with the products, I fell in love with the compensation plan, and we decided to become distributors. To make a long story short; we quit after a few weeks. As the economy continued to sputter and the pressure for me to support my family increased I discovered National Safety Associates. I got to work with the infamous Bill Gouldd. I sold a few water filters, attended a few motivational “events” and actually signed up three people. We all quit after a few weeks. Then--thank God!--I got a real job and Margaree and I decided we would never again consider Network Marketing.

Did you know you can program yourself to control and remember your dreams?

Newspaper

I had the weirdest dream...

The government (in the future) passes a controversial law.

A young man and his girl friend decide to challenge the law.

He is arrested and is sent to a minimum security correctional facility.

He escapes to see his girlfriend once more.

Her mother calls the police.

He races back to the correctional facility.

They give him a harsher sentence.

While he does his time his pregnant fugitive girlfriend leads a campaign to repeal the law.

I'm thinking about turning this into a short story.

What do you think?

P.S. Did you know you can program yourself to control and remember your dreams?

If You Have Abdominal Pain You May Have Diverticulitis.

Dr_nathan_smart_prepares_for_surgery
Diverticulitis (diver-tic-u-li-tis) is a severe form of diverticulosis (diver-tic-u-lo-sis).  Diverticulosis is a very common condition in which small pockets form along your colon.  These pockets make it difficult for bowel movements to pass through your digestive system.  Diverticulitis occurs when food or bacteria get stuck in the pockets causing them to become inflamed or infected.  The symptoms of diverticulitis include fever, stomach pain, and nausea.

If you have any of these symptoms, don’t be stupid like me and hope that they will go away.  Do the right thing and call your doctor.

Day 1

Why do men fight the truth?  Why do men ignore the inevitable?  Why are men so reluctant to get help when it is obviously needed?

I’m writing this from a hospital bed.  I’ve been here for over 12 hours and I’m not sure when I’m going home.  I’m here because I’ve been fighting the truth, ignoring the inevitable, and I refused to ask for help.

My stomach cramps turned out to be acute diverticulitis.  I discovered this the hard way.  Don’t let this happen to you.

It started about a week ago.  I was experiencing painful stomach cramps and I was waking up several times each night for four nights to make painful trips to the bathroom.

I was taking all sorts of over the counter medications for my symptoms but I was not getting better.

Finally my wife Margee, my Angel of Mercy, had had enough and calmly demanded that we visit the local hospital emergency room.

We checked in and a nurse checked my vitals and drew a few blood samples.  We were told it would be a while before the results came back so Margee left to run a few errands.

An hour later a young resident showed up to tell me that my white blood cell count was low--an indication that I had an infection.  He said they needed to perform a CAT scan to get more data.

I was starting to get a little afraid.

After the CAT scan, the doctor told me they were keeping me in the hospital because I had acute diverticulitis and an abdominal abscess.

“Surgery,” he said, “is required to make things right.”
